it was a really close call...
still it's got some positive sides too, if Bush stays on he'll probably ruin the USA's economy even more, the dollar will keep dropping and all them juicy american plugins, software and hardware will be very cheap to buy for europeans!
kidding aside, I honestly have no clue if Kerry would be better than Bush, really don't know the man... still if I were a USA citizen I would have let him have a go at it and prove he can do a better job!
It will be a long 4 years...

On short term - what can we expect from Bush - no retreat from Iraq (where Kerry would have started it after 6 months). The american economy will be a disaster if he continues like this. The almost non-existant social security will be crippled even more. "Freedom" will be dictated by large corporations. Poor become poorer, rich become richer. Nothing new...
We will certainly benefit from it in certain ways - weak dollar - cheap for us for american products, but at the same time expensive for our export products (the big problem japan faces on the american market right now). Also - America will be the main target for the extremist actions - since they will be the ones leading the war, while Kerry wanted to work together with the international community more closely. A big negative impact is probably that the oil-prices will stay high due to the pending conflict in the middle-east.
If Kerry would have become president, we wouldn't have the most stupid man on earth being the most powerfull at the same time. He's a lot more carefull in his international points, and less war-oriented being a general who served in Vietnam and lateron became peace/anti-nam activist. Ok - he still has some same medieval idea's as Bush, but overall it was a lot less simplistic and/or extremistic.
Anyway - we'll see, it's not the end of the world yet, imho a very bad thing for the USA, but for us - nothing much changes I think...

If some candidate would be even more worse then, G.w. Nubya, then we would be really fucked but I dont think that there are even more stupid people.
anyway I want those Plugs when the economy drops.
