I got myself a pair of SN10's from studiospares
http://www.studiospares.com/pd_248000_ST...TORS%20PAIR.htm
Theyre not "high end" but they sound fucking sweet in a studio kinda shit way, no colouration and once you get used to them theyre a dream to mix on. Once you get a mix sounding good on them, it'll sound the same on pretty much anything. Theyre very close to the legendary NS10's. Studio spares boght the rights to the design. The only difference is a larger woofer for better bass response.
Either way you look at it, £100 is a FUCKING BARGAIN.

dunno what it is with me and hp's but i've broken my hd212'...(second pair of hp's in 1.5 years)
Again the cable must be broken inside, there's only sound coming out when u plug it in halfway.
and then the soft thing above your head came loose, but it also holds the straps from the earpeaces on there place, so they are loose too now..
But i really wonder how it comes, this time i really payed attention to what i did with 'em, handled them with care all the time..and still they're broken, and i've only got em for 6 months
Gonna bring em back to the store, cus i've still got my garanty, hope they fix it or give me a new one...

You teared the cable (or someone else did, or the cable is pretty weak anyway), and the left (first) speaker is now off. I know that this happens to me all the time (with normal headphones, I watch my balls with AKG's
)

i say the SONY headphones give good real world refernceing. best to have speakers to mix though.
i see a lot of people with the sony headphones. the black MDR-V150, but any of them are good.
if it sound good on crappy speakers you can have it sounding great on good speakers, but you can't mix that way unless you have good speakers, and they don't cost much now.
you just need to listen to the speakers with music you know well, and understnad there strength and there flaws. then try not to compensate too much.
a decent set of speakers will last you a long time. if you're sierious at all, make, what's called, and INVESTMENT, and get good speakers. get a job to pay for them if you don't have the money. it won't take long, if you want them.
it's like anyone that says they never had time to learn guitar, you just didn't want to because of the effort, anyone can if they want to. if you don't want to or can't do any of this stuff, you just really don't care, it's not because it's not possible.

if your willing to shell out some fair money, but still reasonable for what you get, get the Yamaha HS 80s, they are the true remake of the NS 10s and I have a pair, they are gorgeously flat.
I got mine here (delivered half way across the damn country too haha)
http://rainbowguitars.com/recording/yama...r-pair/HS80M/YH
normally 800, most people do around 600-640, click on the lowest price available button on that page and you'll get the price i got of 570, shaboom
Oh and I do know people that cant play the guitar no matter how much they try, trust me, its possible
