try bringing it in as an audio clip instead? Then you can paste the waveform into the top section of the sequencer (not sure what else to call that) and stretch it all you wish. Can also use the audio clip to change pitch. I've done this before where i've brought in a pad as 2-3 audio clips then change pitches accordingly to make whatever progression i was going for. maybe this isn't the most technically savvy way to do it, but it worked for me.

Or use Paul Stretch, a little free tool to stretch sounds to enormous lengths, but you need a sound of >1sec to start with.
