so im looking into trying to understand the science of mastering, alot of my tune writing is done with a few basic guidelines, and what i can only describe as 'by ear'. ive recently been using nuendo and ozone for mastering purposes, however im in need of any in depth material of frequency guidelines, mastering for vinyl, and anything else accosiated..

i was thinking of buying this book : http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR289942

im not sure if this will provide enough information, so im asking has anyone here got any material, websites, ect they could share?

(.. i have read the sites own mastering guidelines, but they are pretty obvious to me)

thanks

Learn how to mix properly first as there is no point in mastering badly mixed material. You could also read the Ozone manual if you haven’t done so yet, it’s quality.

“Mastering Audio - The Art and the Science” is a must have, totally go for it!

Bob Katz is instant win, he knows what it is all about...
But please keep in mind that mastering for vinyl is something you need to exercise a lot and not just read a book. Of course there are some good guidelines in there to avoid the obvious traps.
