Using samples in my opinion is a terrible way to do leads. I only use samples for drums or really odd effects. Try using Sytrus as a start, its by far the most powerful synth in their arsenal. It can be a little daunting with the billion of knobs and menus but pick a preset as a start and tweak from there. What other synths do you have and what kind of lead are you trying to make?

Anything goes... I use 3xOSC quite often.
Just use some FX to taste on top of it.
Otherwise Blue is my favourite, Albino is cool too.

Well, Sytrus isn't included in the probably best selling version of FL Studio (Producer Edition), but notice that since FL9 (the regcode you got for FL9) some of their softsynths that previously costed you a few bucks are now free for owners of the producer edition!
I'm talking about Wasp, Wasp XT, SimSynth, and some others probably
i've used SimSynth a lot in my early days, and it can produce some absolutely nice, especially warm sounds. I haven't used it for like 4-5 years or more now though, since I got myself a legal copy of FLS (producer edition).
