you shouldn't hear distortion in the mix, that would mean it's clipping. the mix should neve go "into the red" it should NEVER clip. that's not just a preference thing, that's just mechanical part of manufacturing music.

that doesn't sound bad at all to me. make sure it's in HD. you can't hear them crisp drums, and tight bass. As little as people think about Ringo, he was an AMAZING drummer. the sign of a good drummer at those times, was you didn't even think about them.
and then it goes to an acid trip song right after...
