well, since filefront went down, a ot of the stuff on www.dnbwiki.com is down, but i'll try to make a torrent about them, don't need to get sample cd's then.

to be honest just listen to cd samples or other stuff of that nature for inspiration, then try to make it yourself, it's more beneficial in the long run...

As an audio engineer and a musician I personally hate illegal downloading, particularly in a softwaresh sense. A music act can benefit from the popularity in illegal downloads of their music in the long run but seeing as not too many people actually use sample packs in their day to day lives, I personally find it unmoral but not like anyones going to stop you now an days.

I agree with halph price, just make your own, its all layering, filters, and eq at the end of the day anyways

If you want very good quality samples for free go here

http://www.soundsnap.com/

for free memberships you can only download 5 a month but these are well worth it to me and if you have access to other emails and ip addresses...well...you figure it out

As a student and musician I just can't afford these software/samples. I understand that people put a lot time and effort in creating these. I'm studying informatics and I'll probably end up as a software engineer myself. So I understand why you hate illegal downloading, but at this moment this software is just a lot too expensive for me (and I think I'm not the only one on this forum). But from the moment I do have the money to buy myself a copy of Cubase (and others..) I'll definately do that and support the software developers.

By the way, I use these sample packs more for educational purpose. I use them as reference when I'm designing drum sounds or when I quickly want to test how my bassline sounds along some drums.

hey I know alot of people who do download haha, I personally dont care enough to be all RAWR about it. I can understand using it for education as long as you dont make anything off it

yea i do create most of my own layers... up until just a week ago that was all i did. ive just now started putting breaks and some samples into my beats.

i never felt completely comfortable using samples because i thought it lack originality.. but honestly its part of the beauty of electronic music. I also always love hearing something i recognize in peoples beats, it shows you what can be done.

The other night my friends and i were talking about how shitty tiesto is, but when diesel boy samples him and puts him with some sick drum n bass, it becomes awesome.

sample packs are a good investment i reckon.....the Vengeance pack is worth the purchase for the drums alone, plus some decent fx, id also recommend the BHK special edition dnb pack, David Carbone dnb masterclass and the Repulsive Wavs pack...i bought all of these are there a handful of really good samples in each Drummer

check out Producerloops.com, great site for sample packs at decent prices.

I have never bought and never torrented a sample pack in my life.. I have loads of samples and as far as I know, they are all legal (I can't be 100% sure tho, you never can, can you? Tongue ).

What I'm trying to say, is that free, legal sample packs can be really really good. It just might take time to find good ones. Smile

definitely. most of my samples are from scrounging around finding random packs. Ive torrented a few packs but im not that familiar with different high quality packs/producers so i dont know where to start.

Ive been listening to a lot of noisia and a few others and trying to distinguish samples and what not. I assume that most of their samples are from sampling favorite tunes/trading with other top name producers.

Do any of the producers on the forefronts use sample packs? or do they usually get samples from other bands on their labels and what not.

I'm not 100% sure but I think these are the samples from the dnbwiki.
