free d/load.....found the acapella for this tune on ccmixter.org and decided to have a play around with it and here is the result....kinda lil' jon, dirty south, crunk-ish thing.....pretty much finished....jus wanted a few opinions on the mix etc...
Cool, I hoped there was someone else on here makin some hip hop from time to time and who’s not just focused on the dnb and related stuff.
I like your beat, the melody is catchy, the mix out of electric and organic elements is interesting, first a bit confusing but I actually like it that way. The vocal fits well, you’re right about the dirty south style (I dig this sort of music even though I personally think it’s more club music instead of hip hop but well).
The hi hat action is dope and your clap is snappy, I just don’t fancy that kick too much as it seems to be more of a techno kick then clubby hip hop. What I also didn’t like too much was the kick-crash hits before the first verse, again reminded me too much of a different genre (sort of personal preference so others may think different there).
The mix is clean, eq is fine, I like the stereo image (I would leave the cymbal that appears from time to time mono tho). Especially the vocal is nicely edited. Though I would work the mixdown a bit. I think vocal elements could be slightly louder just as well as your sub bass and those snare fills type of thingies. Just minor changes in volume.
