i've been messing around with live 6 for about a week now, and.. i have to admit i'm a bit in love with it right now.
i have only been doing dj stuff with it tough, so i'd like to try producing with it.
only problem is i just cant find out how i can play a sample in notes, like i would in fruity (drag n drop to the patternthing and then pianoroll)
bet it's actually idioticly simple, like i've been searching a few hours how to show the sample properties, while i just had to double click it

i already found out that the simpler is a sampler, but i cant get into the piano roll
only way i figured it out right now is to load in a midi and then delete all the notes and start from there..there should be an easier way to do this right?

ah got it now
you need to switch to the arrangement view and click on the channel the simpler is loaded into.
thatll give you a view that has a piano roll along the bottom.
to audtion samples (if your workin without a midi keyboard of some sort) look for the little headphone button somewhere in the lower left hand of your screen, (it wil light up blue when you find it) and then click a key and there you go.
again might be completely wrong its late and im tired
hope this helps.

Probably the most simple way to do this is to load the sample into a sampler or simpler channel, and create a clip with it in the session view. In the clip's piano roll, you can try the different keys.
step by step using the simpler:
- load an empty simpler instrument into a midi channel
- drag a sample from the browser to the simpler
- in the session view, double click an empty clip slot from the channel where you loaded the simpler
- now you see a piano roll view in the lower part of the window.
- activate drawing mode (pencil on top of the screen) and start experimenting with the notes.

I dont pay attention to the dates on the posts here so I might be completely out of date with this, but I'm gonna share anyways, for the sake of sharing.
Analog in Ableton is a WICKED synth for creating some NASTY basses! Of course, the effects chain following the Analog plays a large part, but the unison effect in Analog makes for some instant grit. Also, depending on how you route the oscillators, you can even get a heavier sound. Operator does indeed boast a higher flexibility capabilty in terms of routing, but the Operator has no unison effect.
Play with the Analog if you haven't done so already, because it is truly a decent synth. I find myself resorting back to it quite a bit in my projects.
