To use this trick you need at least FL Studio 7 to do this.

1. Start by creating a nice breakbeat in what way you prefer the most.

2. Open up the song window (F5).

3. Enlarge the lower part of the window, and click in it. If you had nothing else selected then the current pattern should be pasted there.

4. Use the knife (C) to slice the pattern into pieces. Rearrange the pattern pieces after your liking.

5. Same can be done to samples. Drag one to the lower part, and zoom in as much as posible at the end of the sample. Now stretch the sample so it fits your desired length.

6. Normaly this will not generate a timestretched sample but rather repitch it. If you need to stretch the sample then you have to set the time mode to Auto.

7. If you use the Time knob to stretch the sound then you've lost the posibility to play musical notes with the sample. Instead use the MUL knob to make it longer.

interesting, why not use the Fruity Slicer to chop the breakbeat, it does a wonderful task of Zero-Point cutting all samples, so there's no annoying Clicks and Pops. that and it's easier to draw notes then rearrange waveforms. and you can leave the arrangement windows zoomed out to see the song and still program the drum samples. each note on the fruity slicer can controll pitc and cutoff and velocity also.

be sure to check out the drag and drop function of the Slicer too! you can take each cut and drag and drop it to the arrange window if you like.

He's talking about pasting patterns to the Playlist window, and cutting them. Yeah, that's a nice way to spice up your beats. You can do it with Slicer patterns, too!

Yep Smile It's the same with automation clips - you lay a pattern clip in the lower part of the playlist, and then cut it or whatever.
