oi there, been a while, just been lurking all along 
problem that happens a lot to me, and now more in particular...
suppose you have a cool lead, with a nice melody etc...
but your notes go from eg F4 to F5. your lead has a nice sub, but only when playing f4 you hear it, all other notes are a bit to high pitched, hence less or no sub frequencies....
what do you??
- copy the notes one scale down and lp filter them, creating a similar sub b-line which fits with the main lead?
- repeat the lowest note, giving a continuous sub without melody?
- keep it as is, just one long boomy note, and layer some very subby kick roll underneath the end bar (option i chose now, but not that proud of)
anyway, any info is welcom

if dropping the sub down an octave makes it to deep and up an octave makes it sound shite then try messing with the octave of the lead instead. then again re doing the b line would just be easier. choice of soundcan make a difference, or maybe layer in another lead or stretched/distorted 808 perhaps.....aaaar the joys of production..

a great way to match melody perfectly with that kind of thing is (if and only if youre using a vsti) copy your vsti, and with whatever lead it is youre using, turn all the osc to sines and make it so its a plain sine... that way you have the same tuning and everything...
then, to make it nice and deep...drop it an octave or 2 down on all osc...
and voila...if youre using a sample...sometimes it gets tricky...but for a vsti...simple as that

You could add a sub to the whole thing and then use a multiband limiter to limit the level of the sub where needed...
Or add a sub but don't play the notes where the lead gives sub
Or HP the lead and add a sub.
