not sure wot u mean bit out of bar, there is an extra beat at the start of the breakdown in the middle i felt it needed it 2 seperat the reverse drum buildfrom the kik n crash on the first beat that ends the first 'verse' an starts the breakdown (if u follow).

then theres an extra beat b4 the drop wen it builds an u expect it 2 drop but it dosent, i like un expected stuff like that.

cant quite remeber how it works out now but i think i done so if u cued up the first drop the breakdown will go out but the second drop falls bak in time again.

GR8 samp @ beginin.

gud stereo image jus nicley balanced not over the top.

nice synths an i like the bline, an wen it changes sounds heavy.

really clean mix everythin got its own place sits nicely ect an that contrasts nicely with the dirty drums.

id like more of accent on the build b4 the second drop like a heavyier kik roll an stripin away the synths n bring em bak on the drop. its does work the way it is tho.

i wud push the mid bass slightly only real critisium on the mix/quality ect. but thats if i had 2 do sumfin, i wud jus to see if it gave a bit more impact

as far as the attual tune, 4 me i like tunes wiv a bit more overall excitment. but i still enjoyed it. its the kinda tune u cud use to build set wen u got sum1 big cumin on, or in between rollerz to take it down a bit.

overall crackin production, nice tune.

im a bit suprised you got such a low rateing so far for this tune tbh iam listening on headphones i listen thru speakers l8r cos what im hearin sounds good forgetting production quality for the min the bline is quality intersting i like the ad vocal sound a bit shit 2 me, prob cos the yanky accent ny i think, allways sounds weird to me like wen u hear things like nas dnb mash ups switch it for sum cockney wide boy sayin sumfin similar even better midland accent, lol.
i think that bline deserve s a bit of a build up an drop drums sound an the edits r gr8. do think its a bit empty wen u loose main bline n go into jus sub reckon u wana variation on the bline a bit more automation.
if it was me doin this tune i wud have sum bright stabs in there wen its rollin can almost hear it wud suit well spesh wen u lose the main riff just on the start of a bar.

i ent use winamp for years so dunno wot its like, try playin it thru media player or sumfin else see if it aint u winamp at fault, i notice sumtimes wmp seems to add a very heavy compression to stuff u play on it spesh if you alter the equaliser.
wot bitrate are you are bouncing to, i think that will give you the most obvious difference @ 320kps you wont hear a difference obviously the lower you go the worst quality dont go below 192.
maybee check your bouncing options i dont know bout the software u usein jus double check your bouncin the master and everything is routed to that. your plugins are switched on durring the bounce. sounds stupid but am jus saying double check what is u attually bouncin and how , all the options and stuff, cos i cant see a reason it would sound any diffent as long your not usein a low bitrate, and wen youve bounced your playing it thru the same monitors.

failing that its your ears maybee your gettin to used to your mix then leavin it a while while you bounce then hearin it fresh an noticein the mud. or maybee after you bounce your listenin at a diff volume.

i jus realised u sed u fix u clipin issues, but did u? i think in digital production you can thoreticly go infinately over 0db (as far as u monitors will allow) without clippin but once you bounce down then its goin to get cutt off cud this be sumfin to do with it/ check u levels again.

background sounds 15-01-2010 20:46 Forum: Production questions & answers

i think what u want here is hi end sound so it doesnt cloud your sub/bass/kik/snare/midbass and midd sounds, white nosie based sounds or sounds with white noise in ,
try like a reverse basline. in other styles of music were the base line is not the main element it is the base notes of the melody, iam not very skooled on thoery but if you hav a melody in our case a base line u play woteve key its in, that note and a few more.
or take u melody/bassline delete the 'inbetween' notes try an keep the main notes and extend them, them take them up an octive or two.
use a pad sound eq out all the low end maybee (just a guide) hi pass @800/2.5k u dont want anythin too loud between theese two cos it sounds harsh.
filter sweeps can add movment say on the build up to a change or breakdown.
you can do the same with fx samples add reveb, delay to lenghth the sounds and keep them evoveing. cos its the hi end you move the panning around and get a wider stero image.
the thing behind these 'background nosie' is the need to fill the spectrum. dnb all bout the low end off the spectrum so you need to 'pad' out the rest
good eg. shy fx power ra gr8 tune @ the time real simple nice bass couple mid bass sound drums and the hi end was filled out with crowd nosie! not very musical but sounded great.

you know wot i think its a bit of a culture thing a lot peep who bash 'jump up' are europian or basicly not uk. i think we grew up in a sence an followed the progression from before 'jungledrumnbass' to now there loadsa styles but a lot of what peep on net call dnb is clever and has its own merits but its not wot we think off in the uk and its not what you hear wen u go to raves eg. quote i hav heard so many times 'was his set/that dj any good? did he play like tunes youve heard of' how many times sum1 sed that cos wen we hear sum1 playin sum really clever liquid dnb that clears the dance floor, its a tune no 1s heard of, and its not wat you wana hear althought i do appreciate sum mellow er stuff sumtimes.

sum of the best jump up sounds really simple, thats the idea but to attually make a track thats loud bangin energetic and simple soundin is not so easy.

next time sum1 bashes a simple 'wah wah' tune why dont the knock sumfin up jus as gud or betta am tellin you they cant, perfect example original sin, master know he jus done his album sum of theese elietes respect him cos he can do the full range now they listen to his simpler jump stuff diffrently. its quite intrecate to get that simple grimey badman sound.

we spent year listen to tech step almost jump up in the naughtys all the time it was tryin to get to wear it is now, bin there it was great but it moves on, gets betta.

<<<<<<<<<<<SKIP HERE FOR PRODUCTION TIP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

sorry long post back to the production: i find the key (for me) to gettin these great sik sounds is good vst practice and endless tweakin you soon learn how to make diff sounds, more direct control than re-samplein. if you got massive start wiv that and the examples posted hear, but u literlary 'tweak' the controls just a small turn of any off the control is the diff between a great sound and a shit 1, if you sweep thru the controls twistin them all the way one way then the other you wont get it (if you get me) once i realised this it got a lot easier.

i think the clicks and pops are to do with notes ending/starting abruptly ie going from off to -6db for eg. you can minimise and somtimes compleatly erase them by adjusting your attack and release times, ie. make them longer, but most of the times spesh with sub you dont wana do this cos it can make your notes overlapp n sound nastie, best solution eq them lo-pass @ 100 for your sub also a sine wave does still give off SUM harmonics? i know this sounds wrong (to me anyway) but if you play a note you dont get a straght line at 50 hz for eg. do you, u get sum action above an below?

amen

i use all vst's like sum1 sed part from drums n odd fx occasinally i get/make a loop :melodic or break and work from that if it inspires me.

i can see the creative piont in samplein crazy stuff (fart down a mic) but re samplein 2 me has allways seemed like lookin 4 happy accedents, i work better wen i visualise wot i wana do first then try recreate it, 4 this best way is vst 4 me then i can go back an edit my synths ect. with synths like massive and multipule vst's u can put fx anywere in the chain u like. jus seems like u more controll this way an purposely do woteva u want.

but i notice more n more that otha producers re-sample over n over to get there sound so its sumfin am gonna do more of in futer i have read the wicked re sample tut on here b interesstin if any1 got any diff re samplin tips /ideas

i really am a stranger to re samplein i know it the foundation of our music i have a friend who pioneered the drum nbass sound (or shud i say jungle techno, it was thenb)back in the early days along wiv ltj bukem ect all he know s is samplein he been out the game for years hes a brickie now i showed him fl studio he was like wow u can do all that on the cpu, lol anyway thought u mighnt find that interestin.

the only time i sampled my own sounds is 2 save cpu litulary bounce down the riff knock off the fx an link back 2 the same chanle spose i jus need 2 reapt that

i use cool edit a lot 4 cleanin up one shots and final midown /masterin n stuff u can apply effcts an plugin comaptable but not live as such i jus thought there wud be other edditors out there that cud host u vst an peep wud use soley the editor 4 re-samplein rather than u daw an an editor maybee it dont make a diff.

soz 4 the long post but u know wot b a gud idea if any 1 is down sum1 post a sound an we hav a go at re hashin it an see wott diff peep cum up with wud be interesstin 4 me anyway see wot can be atchived even if only 1 otha person up 4 it

sample and re-sample 08-12-2009 15:01 Forum: Production questions & answers

somthin i never really been into gonna giv it a try tbh the only samples i really use r one shots 4 my drums, occasionally the odd fx.

read a couple of tuts on re-samplein , but wots the best editor to use i have cool edit, but i wanted sumfin integral to my DAW (fl 7) for the sake of work flow. edison is no good cos its great for editin iv used it loads but it cant apply effects.

and wots u usuall process? do a batch load savin as u go or 1/2 at a time loadin em straight to u sampler and start bangin out riffs.

i ve stayed away from workin with samples allways stuck 2 vst but im decidin thats how a lot of producors end up wiv sum really sik original sounds/tunes. your thoughts? cheers, gaz

massive ksd files dont work in fl 11-10-2009 20:08 Forum: Fruity Loops - FL Studio

the presets i create in massive in fl save as fls. (fruity loop state files) but if i try an import kds files (kore sumfin) they dont work. i can open them in standalone and resave them but they still save as kds. any1 got a work around.
