mixing down to pink noise?

i was reading on another forum about mixing down , apparently dj fresh mixs down to pink noise can some one explain this to me please?

i reckon its referring to callibrating your room.....pink noise signals are used (@ -18dBFS i think) to calibrate the monitors to the right level, then you mix by ear. Its used a lot when mixing for film, calibrating all 6 speakers (or more these days!) to the correct mixing levels, about 85dB for film (or bigger depending on the room)....music-wise its probably only used when mixing in large professional studios, i wouldnt worry about it too much for the home studio set-up, although angling your speakers correctly and making sure their set at the same level is obviously useful.
