stereo on bass question.

Age Break
heyy guys, I'm using fl studio 8 to create my tunes with, and lately people are telling me my bass is to wide on stereo and stuff.

now my question is: how can I prevent my bass getting to wide.
which tool do I have to use etc.?

thanks in advanceBig Grin

Route it to separate mixer track and then find the stereo separation knob (in the mixer) and turn it to the left (100% merged). Or render your bass to mono.

BTW Moving this in the right section...

for every one else with stereo issues use brainworx bx control.

Instead of making everything mono you could also use a vst to make just the low frequencies mono.

so does stereo separation work by delaying one speaker slightly?

it works by taking the difference between the left and right channels of the signal, so plays the left part out the left, right out the right. So using stereo seperation on a mono signal won't work as there's no left and right. I reckon it's a good technique to use on strings, fx, atmospherics and a little on percussion as it adds width to the elements of the track that tend to stay in the background. But i keep it turned off (I.e dead center on the mixer) on things like the kick, snare and main bass tracks and merge the sub to mono to keep it suitable for a club setup, wide bass on a huge system won't give a consistent sound all around a club. It also helps to give the main elements their own place in the mix so you can mix em nice and loud. Drummer
