i got a technical question:

i want to know if someone know how to give to my snare a "wood effect"?

pff I have no idea, if you want a wood sounding snare, try searching for some "woodie" snares maybe?, or some percs from like hiphop have wood like sounds maybe you can layer them with other snares to make a wood snare?
or try and record some.
other guys here might be more of a help with thisSmile
good luck!

You can achieve it with an EQ Smile

I already sent him a pm.

anyone else just search my posts on here for frequency guidline that we initially took from DOA & added our own bits & bats to.

Or alternatively click the banner in me sig & browse FAQ section or general production tips Smile

WTF is a wood snare? Any youtube clip that features it?
Pure_bordem
im going to guess that he is referring to a rim a click in which the *glock* sound of the stick comes out
Muad'Dib
I believe he thinks about a rim shot. Maybe a bit downpitched and a bit of tape distortion (not too much, though). And a compressor for snap.
Sentinel
I dunno but you can make it sound like your hitting a block of wood ...

As for why I dunno ... I use one hit samples & process / eq to suit Smile
Ketz
um use a sample with the quality that ur lookin for in the first place?
BattleDrone
Exactly my thoughts: look for a good sample or make your own.

maybe it wasnt very well explained, i heard about snap and crunch but dunno what is this.

i continu to check google ^_^
i got sample of what i talk, but i just want the technik to make one sound like "wood"
probably its a rim shot, i will try with it.

"snap" can be acheived with the right type of compression on your snare

"crunch" can also be acheived with the right eq boost (normally around 150 - 200hz) for that extra smack

but again, it is very important to get the right sample to start with in the first place
BattleDrone
If your snare needs isn't good enough, layer on a second one that has the missing ingredient.
Snap is a powerful attack (like snapping your fingers) it might be the thing you're after. Layer a high pitched tom drum onto your snare to make it very snappy.
You might need to lower the volume of the tom to mask its presence a bit and you need to cut off the tail because you just want the first bit.

nice trick thx Wink
