Are there any good free filters around , just for high passing my mix at 30 hz? the natice fl filters are shocking for the most part

There are quite a few decent free filters kicking aroud, I've mainly found some on the cover discs of magazines to be little gems. These two in particular are used in 99% of my tunes and I bet you'll use them for more than just high passing at 30hz...
Crayon Filter has an awesome drive and can give drums some wicked punch..

and Northpole has some weird sounds you can get out of it if you tickle it right

(I see you're using FL, follow the links to the VST)
Hope they're useful mate.

For filtering out the low end the native filter should be sufficient. It's quite a simple thing to do in software, so most filters should be able to pull it off.
If the result of the native FL filter does not sound right, maybe you set it up wrong. If you add resonance or make it too steep it will sound bad.
BattleDrone
I always use FL Maximus to hi-pass the whole thing. Works really wel.

There's also a preset named something like: Filter cut below 30hz and above 18khz. I usually put that on end mixes and similar.

i was working witha project on a friends computer using waves filters and the difference fairly noticeable, fl eq is dodgy imo
