Does anyone know where I can get some samples of 8-bit sounds? like old gameboy/nintendo noises.
D2o
why not try to make them?
its really just a case of simple waveforms and playing the right chords etc.
then use a bit rate, reduction plug-in to get that 8-Bit sound
that should get you something like you want
Here is a little somethin i did with two synth and a midi file of mario i d/l free off the net
http://www.sendspace.com/file/nblu83
took me very little time to do
think about it, the computers back then didn't have complex synths in them, just wave form generators, no filters of fancy shit
keep it simple
Phalanx
Haha nice one Ghost sounds very Nintendesque

cheers for the help,
but theres an artist I really like called Sabrepulse, and he uses alot of chiptune sounds and it's not just the beeps that I wanted to get hold of. Anyone that listens to him will sorta know what I mean.
He makes them using a special cart that he puts in his gameboy, but i don't have one nor do I wish to buy one.
This song features some of the sounds I'm on about (about 3:00 onwards):

Since we're on the topic of Sabrepulse, does anyone know what snare he uses (at 1:30 and 2:55) on this track?:

Try and search for them on a torrent site or something !?
Or try a p2p program like ares or emule.

Funny !!
Learn !?
Best thing to do is not have a set plan on what you want to create when you start out ...
Just select random sounds and experiment.
Cool tracks can be produced that way too !
